Information on a trial enabling the use of private Farm Fire Fighting Vehicles without registration and forthcoming events – Detour on Friday and PCA AGM on Saturday.
Farm Fire Fighting Vehicles Trial
NSW landowners have less than a month to register for a trial designed to enhance rural firefighting capabilities. A collaboration between Transport for NSW and the RFS, the trial enables the use of private Farm Fire Fighting Vehicles (FFFVs) without registration, provided they meet specific eligibility criteria.
Vehicles must have fire-fighting equipment permanently attached, operate within a 100km radius of the storage address, and be maintained in a safe operating condition.
These measures ensure that while not registered, these vehicles are adequately equipped to assist in emergency situations and contribute effectively to firefighting efforts. The trial runs until March 31.
To nominate a vehicle for the trial, visit NSW Government information on when you can drive an unregistered vehicle
