3 April – Update from Putty

Lots of rain on its way, end of Bushfire Danger Period, power outages, how to change speed limits on rural roads, new PCA Committee, forthcoming events and March rainfall.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting rain on Thursday and Friday with possible heavy falls. Please check the latest forecast and weather warnings.

The Bushfire Danger Period ended on 1 April 2024. Landowners do not require a Permit to Burn except in the case of a Hazard Reduction.

Normal rules still apply – you must give a minimum of 24 hours notice before lighting a fire to: 

~~ Your Neighbours, including National Parks if next door
~~ Bulga Fire Control Centre: Phone 65751200 or Register your burns with NSW RFS online
~~Putty Fire Brigade, phone the Captain 0401 535 575

Notification is necessary in case

  • The well-intended fire escapes containment lines and requires the attendance of a fire truck/s.
  • Help reduce unnecessary emergency calls

The Putty Rural Fire Brigade attended two fires last week. Both had fire permits.

Power Outages

Ausgrid has advised there will be an interruption to electricity on Thursday 9 May 8.30am – 3.30pm to replace or repair electrical poles in Garland Valley, Howes Valley and Putty. Properties on the following roads will be affected – Putty Rd to Reedy Creek , Arthur Dr, Box Gap Rd, Burnt Arm Rd, Putty Valley Rd, Roswill Dr, Turnbull Creek Rd and Yengo Dr.

Ausgrid are planning to upgrade the High Voltage 22kV power line from 773-1387 Putty Valley Road to improve reliability and reduce unplanned power outages. To safely complete this work there will be a number of power interruptions.

They are planning to have consecutive day power outages Tuesday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm for 1 week (weather permitting). Dates will be advised. Contact: Joshua Payne, 02 6571 9729 joshua.payne@ausgrid.com.au

Speed Limit
People who want the speed limit on Putty Valley Road changed please send an email to Singleton Council council@singleton.nsw.gov.au and mark it Attn: Local Traffic Committee.

You can also go directly to Transport for NSW for a Speed Zone Review. Anyone can submit – Have your say about speed limits – Safer Roads NSW

Roadworks
Singleton Council is waiting for funding to come through to do more work on Putty Valley Road and other roads in the area.
