The SES and the Bureau of Meteorology are warning people in parts of the Hunter and Mid North Coast to prepare for persistent rain over the next week. Isolated heavy rains and damaging winds are forecast for late Sunday to Tuesday. Isolated heavy falls may cause road closures and flash flooding due to the ground being very wet.
Putty is on the southern edge of this weather system but at this stage it is unpredictable.
Be prepared
- Check weather forecasts
- Ensure you have a supply of food, medications and fuel
- Clean out gutters and drains around house
- Clean out road drainage to avoid roads being washed out
- Put away loose items around your yard – flying objects can be lethal in strong winds
- Move animals to higher ground
- Do not park your car under a tree or power lines
- Do not drive through flooded waters
