Fire on 8478 Putty Road

Fire Advice

As the TOTAL FIRE BAN days continue, fire crews have been called to attend a fire on properties on and next to 8478 Putty Road, Putty. The fire started yesterday, Monday 1st December at midday and crews are attending the fire again today. While these properties are nearby the St. Shenouda Monastery, they are on the opposite side of Putty Road and there is no threat to the Monastery.

This is the second fire in Putty in less than a week. As the wind, heat and Total Fire Ban days continue, the risk of a fire starting is very high. The NSWRFS suggest not to operate any machinery such as chainsaws, mowers, welders or grinders in the open as they can all generate sparks that can ignite dry grass.

Unless Putty gets some good rain soon, the unfortunate fire conditions will continue. Please take extra care with your day to day activities and report any fire you see without a fire vehicle in attendance to Triple Zero.
