Update from Putty

Well done Putty People – no fires in October! Advices were issued for Garland Valley and Commission Road but none in Putty. The fire in Garland Valley was started by a tree root, burning underground from a fire put out weeks ago. When the tree fell over another fire started.

Don’t waste time, report fires directly to 000. Pay attention to Fire Danger Ratings and adhere to fire permit requirements. Download the Hazards Near Me app and keep up to date. Join the Putty Fire Brigade to help out or to be fully trained. Contact Putty RFS. Continue reading “Update from Putty”

Hail, Fires and Putty Fair

Last night a hail and thunder storm hit Putty at 7pm. It was not forecast. The northern end of Putty Valley had hail stones measuring 15mm and the rain gauge measured 19mm. However this would not have accounted for some hail which would have bounced out. Twelve hours later ice remained – see photo. Near the Putty Hall small hail with rain was reported. Today’s BOM forecast: ‘The chance of a thunderstorm on and east of the ranges in the afternoon and evening, possibly severe’.

Fire Assessment and Advice Program

To all Putty, Kindarun and Yengo residents,

The forecast for a dry winter and spring leading into this year’s fire season should be a reminder for all residents to prepare their properties ahead of time.

The Putty Rural Fire Brigade is offering to visit land owners and assess their properties for fire danger and offer advice on preparations.

Any residents interested in taking part in this program should contact the Brigade Captain Kenn Mackett at the below email address to arrange a time for a site inspection.

Please note that this is an Assessment and Advice program and that the Putty Brigade will NOT be conducting hazard reduction work on private properties.

Thank you
from the Putty Rural Fire Brigade
